HELMET RESUME

Recently I've been trying to apply for jobs that are within my area of expertise INDUSTRIAL DESIGN. Unfortunately there are tons of university graduates looking for jobs so I needed a way to stand out. 

I've always wanted to work at Troy Lee Designs, an action sports lifestyle apparel company. I have a passion for action sports so working there is a dream. The company is unfortunately in America and needed a way to stand out.

I decided to send them my cover letter and resume.......painted on one of their helmets.

I bought a helmet online for $100. Once it arrived I gave the helmet a big wash to get rid of any dirt/grime, disassembled the helmet taking off the visor, mouth piece and internal padding.

Finally, sanding the helmet down and spraying a base white coat all over the helmet.

 

Initially I thought of doing some crazy graphics on the helmet, but I thought that if there was too much going on, on the helmet then what I'm actually trying to show will be muddled and confused. I settled on the most basic style possible, black text with a white background with some accents to give the helmet some design aspect.

I was happy with the final product. Admittedly, I wasn't happy when I did the final clear coat as bits of lint and dust got on the helmet and it was too late to remove them once the clear coat was applied. I never want to work with white again haha...

To wrap up the resume project I made up packaging for the helmet. Following the same ideas of the helmet with a very basic black and white design.
