GLOBAL GIRLS
Logo design for Global Weddings Podcast ‘Global Girls"
Refinement for podcast aspect of the logo
Too much and needed some simplification
playful
These logos were a lot more in the direction that was needed and overall was satisfied with the refinement of the design. A personal favourite of mine was the use of the ring in the glass with bubbles coming off, this emphasised the idea of weddings as commonly people propose with the use of a champagne glass which in this case was a wine glass to go with the podcast name ‘Weddings and Wine’
Arrangements
I’ve been trying to play around with different composition and colours with the use of my logo. Not as the centre piece but to create some fun shapes and colour combinations with the logo as that tool
HELMET RESUME
HELMET RESUME
Recently I've been trying to apply for jobs that are within my area of expertise INDUSTRIAL DESIGN. Unfortunately there are tons of university graduates looking for jobs so I needed a way to stand out.
I've always wanted to work at Troy Lee Designs, an action sports lifestyle apparel company. I have a passion for action sports so working there is a dream. The company is unfortunately in America and needed a way to stand out.
I decided to send them my cover letter and resume.......painted on one of their helmets.
I bought a helmet online for $100. Once it arrived I gave the helmet a big wash to get rid of any dirt/grime, disassembled the helmet taking off the visor, mouth piece and internal padding.
Finally, sanding the helmet down and spraying a base white coat all over the helmet.
Initially I thought of doing some crazy graphics on the helmet, but I thought that if there was too much going on, on the helmet then what I'm actually trying to show will be muddled and confused. I settled on the most basic style possible, black text with a white background with some accents to give the helmet some design aspect.
I was happy with the final product. Admittedly, I wasn't happy when I did the final clear coat as bits of lint and dust got on the helmet and it was too late to remove them once the clear coat was applied. I never want to work with white again haha...
To wrap up the resume project I made up packaging for the helmet. Following the same ideas of the helmet with a very basic black and white design.
Coffee Table
For a side project I decided to make a coffee table using a new program called Mesh Mixer.
I found this program was fairly easy to use but the program got rid of a lot of the design factor so it did all the work. Not to say that the program doing all the work isn't a great thing but it feels lazy.
The way the program works is that you import a base shape and then it manipulates the shape in the way you specify within the program. Its a super easy way to create a large range of different shapes but I feel like the final outcome shapes can be taken even further.
Painting without a purpose
Recently I've torn my ACL and have had to spend a large amount of time recuperating in bed. I can rarely sit still even with a busted knee so I decided to keep myself busy and do a bunch of painting on relatively small objects.
I've come to find that my paintings aren't very different from each other because they all use the same technique of using patterns to build detail into relatively simple designs.
Sketching
DRAWING STUFF AND MANY THINGS
I've been doing a bunch of sketching recently, none of it has been technical drawings but purely artistic. I seem to have a lot of free time on my hands so this has kept me very occupied.
I enjoy using patterns to give detail, I'm not very good at adding detail into my visuals the usual way of making areas darker or by adding more to the image. Using the patterns almost create that detail I want in the image without me doing a whole lot more.
I think I should start turning these all in vector images, then I could possibly put them on shirts.
